We welcome you . . .

. . . to MenAloud! Below is a short description of how the Chorus works, some details of costs and what to expect if you decide to join us.

We rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7 to approx. 9:30 at Richview United Church, 149 Wellesworth Dr.,  Etobicoke.  We meet weekly from Sept. through May, and perform six or more times annually, including major concerts at Christmas and in the spring.

Repertoire: :
Our repertoire may best be described as a mix of classic choral and popular music from the mid 20th century to the present day. To make sure that we enjoy the music we sing, everyone participates in the selection of music.

Our Singers:

Members have varied backgrounds, and ages range from young to ‘less young’. Some have sung in school choirs; others delayed singing until their later years – as life got in the way in the meantime 🙂. Everyone shares a love of male voice singing and enjoys the team spirit it generates.

Annual membership is $350. Total payment is due in September or can be split 50/50 (Sept. and Jan.). We waive dues for the first year for new members under 25 and in full-time studies.

Our performance uniform consists of black shirt, trousers and shoes; provided by each member. The Chorus supplies coloured accessories.

Your First Weeks:

It is helpful for new members to take 3-4 weeks during which our Music Director will determine the best fit for a new singer’s voice. It also gives you the chance to ‘try out’ the Chorus for a while before making a commitment.

We expect that active members will attend regular rehearsals and confirmed concerts (reasonable work obligations and vacations excused). Also, members agree to put in ‘home practice’ – as needed – of the current repertoire. When you decide to join, your membership fee is due. The uniform is required ahead of the first performance.
