Welcome to the Queensmen

We welcome you to The Queensmen.

THERE ARE FEW THINGS MORE ENJOYABLE THAN SINGING WITH A BUNCH OF GUYS.

Very few hobbies are better than singing, and we promise good times and great guys. Come try some notes with us and feel the joy of creating music together. There are no obligations, and all are welcome. We sing light, popular music and are not an auditioned chorus, though some musical experience would be helpful. Everyone participates in the selection of their favourites. It’s music you like to hear.

 Our Background:
The Chorus started life in Etobicoke in 1949 and became The Queensmen in 1953 in recognition of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. We continue as a strong, friendly organization and meet weekly from September through May..

Introductory Period:
The first few weeks gives opportunity to get to know each other and during which Kento Stratford, our Music Director, will determine the suitability of your voice and help you find which section is best for you. This is also your time to try us out before making a commitment.

Our Commitment:
We expect active members to attend regular rehearsals as well as our confirmed concerts (reasonable work obligations and vacations excused). Also, members agree to put in appropriate ‘home practice’ of our current repertoire. At this time fees will become due. You will require a black binder and the uniform before your first performance.

Our Repertoire:
Our repertoire may best be described as classic “popular” from the mid 20th century to the present day. To make sure we enjoy the music that we sing, everyone participates in the selection of music.

Our Singers:
Members have varied backgrounds, and ages vary from young to ‘less young’. Some have sung in school choirs, others delayed singing until their later years – as life got in the way in the meantime! Everyone shares a love of male voice singing and enjoy the friendships we form.

Our Fees:
Annual membership is $350. Total payment is due in September or can be split 50/50 in September and January. We waive dues for the first year for new members under the age of 25 in full-time studies, though they will be expected to provide performance uniform as required.

Our Uniform:
The Queensmen’s performance uniform consist of black shirt, trousers and shoes; provided by each member. The Chorus supplies coloured ties.
